Mr. Akinyemi Ashade

Mr. Akinyemi Ashade earned a B.Sc. in Biology from the defunct Faculty of Science (now Faculty of Life Sciences), University of Lagos, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, and a member of the Financial Services Industry Line of Business team. Mr. Ashade is a Partner in the Financial Services Industry, Audit Division at KPMG Nigeria, and has garnered 21 years of professional experience providing assurance, audit, and advisory services across diverse sectors, including the public domain. He has acted as a partner and director on numerous audits, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) conversion and implementation support assignments, due diligence reviews, financial reporting, and account reconciliation engagements. In the course of his career, Akinyemi left KPMG to serve as the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Finance in Lagos State, and also served as the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget between 2015 and 2019, before rejoining professional practice in 2020. His industry focus covers banking, insurance, capital markets, discount houses, pension funds, investment vehicles, and industry regulators. He has project-managed various high-profile diagnostic reviews for the CBN and banking sector reforms. His representative clients include CBN, First Bank, Access Bank, GTBank, Union Bank, ARM, Capital Alliance, MTN, TOTAL, and NLNG.
